Mirai Sentai Timeranger

Mirai Sentai Timeranger is a Japanese tokusatsu television series and the 24th entry in Toei’s Super Sentai metaseries. Footage from the series was used in the American production Power Rangers Time Force.[1] Its opening narration declares, “People from the future in the year 3000 AD and one man have met by chance, for the sake of marking a new passage of time…!”

Factory released Timeranger on DVD in North America on July 31, 2018.[2] It was the ninth Super Sentai series released on Region 1 DVD in North America. The series premiered on February 11, 2000, joining Kamen Rider Kuuga in the Super Hero Time block and replacing Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoFive.

In the 30th century, a time-paradox crisis leads to time travel being made illegal. The Time Defense Bureau (TDB) is created to monitor and prevent time crimes. Don Dolnero and his gang trick four newly enlisted TDB cadets into allowing them to travel back to the year 2000 and commit various crimes. To protect history, the cadets pursue them. However, they face a serious obstacle: the Timeranger program requires five members for its first operation. They force a present-day martial artist, Tatsuya Asami, to join them, forming the Timerangers. Tatsuya rents a building for them to live in, and they establish a small odd-jobs business called Tomorrow Research to support themselves financially.

As time passes, the four cadets realize that their presence will inevitably alter the future, creating the City Guardians—a security force employed by the Asami Corporation to protect the city from the Londerz. The City Guardians develop a tentative relationship with the Timerangers, particularly after Tatsuya’s college acquaintance Naoto becomes Time Fire and later also takes command as captain of the City Guardians.
