Engine Sentai Go-Onger vs. Gekiranger

Engine Sentai Go-Onger vs. Gekiranger is the second film adaptation of the 2008 Japanese Super Sentai series Engine Sentai Go-Onger. It was originally planned as a V-Cinema release on DVD on March 21, 2009. However, on December 7, 2008, it was announced that the film would instead open in Japanese theaters on January 24, 2009, commemorating the fifteenth entry in the Super Sentai VS Series. The film brings together characters from Engine Sentai Go-Onger and its predecessor, Juken Sentai Gekiranger. It is the first time a Super Sentai series has had a film outside the summer double feature with a Kamen Rider Series film. During its opening weekend, the movie ranked third at the Japanese box office, earning the equivalent of US$964,079 across 292 screens. It was released on Blu-ray and DVD on April 28, 2016.

The story begins with GekiRed battling Nunchaku Banki after returning from his trip around the world for Natsumi’s birthday. GekiYellow and GekiBlue arrive to back him up, but Nunchaku Banki sends the Gekirangers to another dimension. The Go-Ongers arrive before the Savage Machine Beast leaves in pursuit of his quarry. After clearing up a misunderstanding with GekiViolet and GekiChopper, they take the pair to SCRTC to meet Master Sha-Fu. Hant reveals that he met Miki during one of his previous jobs at the Kyoryuya Curry Shop. When they take Sha-Fu to the site and realize the Gaiark are after Dōkokugan, he opens a path for them to follow. Meanwhile, Nunchaku Banki overwhelms the Gekirangers and demands that Jan hand over the sealed Long. After the Gekirangers reunite and meet the Go-Ongers, they defeat the Ugats and overpower Nunchaku Banki.

In retaliation, Nunchaku Banki steals the Engines. The Pollution Ministers then arrive with the mastermind behind their scheme, Meka, who reveals that he is the last Confrontation Beast Hall user. Holding the Engine Souls hostage, Meka tricks Jan into surrendering the Dōkokugan to save the Engines, then sends the Rangers back to their own world. Meka pounds the Dōkokugan into an Engine Soul and implants it in Nunchaku Banki. As the Gekirangers try to teach the Go-Ongers the ways of the Fierce Beast Fist Style, Nunchaku Banki arrives to test his newfound power while Meka watches and takes in the suffering. The Go-On Wings arrive to get the two troublemakers out of the city, then face them using what they learned from Gorie.

Unable to endure Jan’s teachings, Go-On Red runs to Hiroto and Miu’s aid. He battles Nunchaku Banki and, with his newly acquired Engine Fist, gets Speedor back. After mastering their own Engine Fist style, the other Go-Ongers arrive to support Go-On Red and GekiRed and recover their Engine Souls. Once Nunchaku Banki is scrapped, the Pollution Ministers retreat, leaving Meka to fend for himself. Long, however, breaks free of his seal and abandons his robot vessel, intent on getting revenge. The Go-On Wings arrive with the resurrected Rio and Mele, turning the tables. Long then transforms Nunchaku Banki into a new body for himself: Long Banki.

While the reds and Rio fight Long Banki, Mele and the Go-On Wings take on Meka. The teams then use a Super-Super Special combo against them. Meka is destroyed, but Long Banki grows larger, prompting Engine-O G9 and GekiRinTohja Wolf to fight him. Bae returns all the way from India, only to find a battle to commentate on. The teams are initially overpowered by the immortal Long Banki, but they form Engine-Oh G12 and Saidai GekiRinTohja and manage to destroy him, resealing Long. After returning the Dōkokugan to Jan, Rio and Mele depart for purgatory, with Rio telling Jan that he has not forgotten his promise. Later that night, both teams hold a birthday party for Natsume.
