About Engine Sentai Go-Onger: Boom Boom! Bang Bang! GekijōBang!!

Engine Sentai Go-onger: Boom Boom! Bang Bang! GekijōBang!! is the theatrical film adaptation of the 2008 Japanese Super Sentai series Engine Sentai Go-onger. Like all Super Sentai films, Boom Boom! Bang Bang! GekijōBang!! was released as a double feature with the film based on the 2008 Kamen Rider series Kamen Rider Kiva, Kamen Rider Kiva: King of the Castle in the Demon World. The two films premiered in Japanese theaters on August 9, 2008. J-pop singer Sonim makes a guest appearance as the antagonist, Empress Maki. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD on April 28, 2016.

The story begins with the Gaiark Pollution Ministers trying to break through the dimensional barriers separating the Braneworlds. They enlist 13 recycled Barbaric Machine Beasts to help. The Go-Ongers intercept the Recycle Barbaric Machine Beast Army in their Engines and manage to destroy all 13. However, three mysterious warriors appear, and their actions cause the Go-Ongers to lose their primary Engine Casts and be pulled into Samurai World (サムライワールド Samurai Wārudo), a Braneworld resembling Edo Japan where power is essential. While Jumbowhale and Carrigator work to keep the portal between the two worlds open, the Go-Ongers search for Speedor, Bus-on, and Bearrv’s missing Engine Casts and pursue the Honōshū.

After fleeing a group of samurai, the primary Go-Ongers are rescued by Tsuki-no-Wa, who takes them to the others. Raiken and Gokumaru then arrive with Hant and Gunpei, having taken the Engine Souls of Birc and Gunpherd. This forces the Honōshū to reveal that they are Engine Souls. They cannot bond with the primary Engine Casts, however, because the Yōma have taken them. After hearing the Honōshū’s story, the Go-Ongers offer to help storm Maki’s castle that day. There, they find the Sutō siblings, who pretend to work for Maki so they can return the Engine Casts to the Go-Ongers.

While the others use Hyper Cannonball to destroy Maki’s Yōma servants and recover the Engine Casts of Shishi-no-Shin and Tsuki-no-Wa, Maki overwhelms Go-On Red until the Honōshū arrive. Sōsuke and the three Shoguns fight Maki and defeat her once. Saki returns Tsuki-no-Wa’s cast, and Renn returns Shishi-no-Shin’s. When Sōsuke asks where Retsu-Taka’s cast is, Maki reveals that she has taken it and enlarges herself. Engine-Oh and the other Engines battle her monstrous form, but are broken down. Sōsuke manages to grab one of Maki’s heads and fight his way to Retsu-Taka’s Engine Cast. After he retrieves it, Maki assumes her true form. The Honōshū risk themselves to form Engine Daishougun, with Sōsuke piloting them as they destroy Maki and burn her castle to the ground. With the battle over and Samurai World’s inhabitants returned to normal, Engine Daishogun turns to stone, to Sōsuke’s dismay. The Go-Ongers soon return to their own world.
