Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger: Super Animal War

Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger: Super Animal War, also titled the Super Sentai 40th Anniversary Work Original Drama, is a special Blu-Ray miniseries of Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger. It was the first production of this type for Super Sentai, following The Legend of Hero Alain from Kamen Rider Ghost and Secret Mission Type TOKUJO from Kamen Rider Drive.

The miniseries features the Zyuohgers alongside various characters from earlier Super Sentai series and was produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Super Sentai.

• The Zyuohgers first discover the existence of Super Sentai in episode 29, while in this miniseries, nobody except Yamato appears to have heard of Super Sentai.
• The story also includes references to other series and even acknowledges Zyuohger itself as a television series.

• In Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger vs. Ninninger: Message from the Future from Super Sentai, ShiroNinger, who also appears in this special, does not recognize the Zyuohgers and, like the other Ninningers, believes Gillmarda’s claims about them.
• The final episode of the miniseries includes a reference to the season’s V-Cinema, which takes place after the television series ends.
