About Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs. Shinkenger: Epic on Ginmaku

Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs. Shinkenger: Epic on Ginmaku is a “versus” superhero film in the Super Sentai Series tradition of crossover movies collectively known as the “VS Series”. Released on January 22, 2011, the film brings together the casts and characters of Tensou Sentai Goseiger and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. The heroes of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger also make a cameo appearance, which is later explained in the 40th episode of their own series. The movie was first announced through Toei’s Twitter feed on October 21, 2010. Its catchphrases are “Move out, Samurai! Take off, Angels!”. It was the first Super Sentai VS entry released on Blu-ray, which arrived alongside the DVD on March 21, 2011. The story takes place between epics 32 and 33, with the events occurring on October 2, 2010.

While running errands for the other Goseigers and Nozomu, Alata encounters the Nanashi Company and the Ayakashi Madokodama. He begins fighting them and soon receives assistance from Shinken Red, although a mysterious figure secretly watches the battle as Madokodama retreats. Believing that Doukoku Chimatsuri may somehow have returned, Takeru leaves to gather his vassals and accepts the Goseigers’ offer to help.

Despite Takeru’s objections, the Amachi Institute becomes their temporary base. Takeru introduces Hikoma Kusakabe to the Goseigers, who learn more about the Gedoushu. Ryunosuke Ikenami is the first Shinkenger to return, but the Gedoushu soon launch another attack. Bibi Soldiers hold off the two Shinkengers while Madokodama battles the Goseigers, and Shinken Green then arrives to join the fight.

The true leader of the attacking Gedoushu finally appears, revealing that he is not Doukoku but Buredoran. Calling himself Buredoran of Chimatsuri and claiming to be Doukoku’s heir, he fights Super Shinken Red before releasing his Bibi Bugs against the samurai and carrying him away.

Alata attempts to convince Ryunosuke and Chiaki to continue helping them. Meanwhile, Eri and Agri meet Mako Shiraishi, while Hyde and Moune find Kotoha Hanaori. Their reunion is interrupted when Takeru appears under Buredoran’s control. Now transformed into Gedou Shinken Red, he attacks the Goseigers and eventually points his Rekka Daizantou toward his own vassals.

Gosei Red takes the deadly attack intended for the Shinkengers, and Gosei Knight and Shinken Gold arrive in time to cover the others’ escape. While Alata recovers from his injuries, Gosei Knight suggests that the Goseigers strengthen their Tensou Techniques because Madokodama can absorb their attacks and send them back. After witnessing Gosei Red’s selfless actions, the Shinkengers agree to fully cooperate with the Goseigers.

The following day, the two teams train to combine Tensou Techniques with Modikara. Eri and Mako combine their air abilities, Ryunosuke and Hyde work together through water, Chiaki and Moune use their shared connection with plants, and Agri and Kotoha combine their geokinetic powers. Their training succeeds, and when Alata regains consciousness, he reassures Ryunosuke that everything will work out. At the same time, Kaoru Shiba arrives with a possible solution to the crisis.

Buredoran’s larger plan is then revealed: he intends to flood the Gosei World with water from the Sanzu River, shocking Shitari. The Goseigers and Shinkengers arrive to stop him but are forced to fight Gedou Shinken Red. Gosei Red joins the battle and uses a Modikara-powered Flametornado Card to release Shinken Red from Buredoran’s control. With Takeru restored, the two Sentai teams fight their way through the Bibis and Nanashi together.

The others use their combined Tensou Technique and Modikara attacks to overpower Madokodama. Super Gosei Red and Hyper Shinken Red separately defeat phantoms representing Buredoran’s Warstar and Yuumajuu forms before rejoining the group. The teams then continue the battle with the Super Shinkengers and a Miracle Gosei/Knight Dynamic combination.

Elsewhere on the battlefield, a lost DaiGoyou discovers a Gedoushu army led by Shitari. Shitari intends to attack Buredoran’s forces and reclaim the Sanzu River. Before he can begin the assault, however, another force suddenly arrives and ambushes his army. To DaiGoyou’s surprise, the newcomers identify themselves as the 35th Super Sentai, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. They quickly destroy the Gedoushu force and, before leaving, ask DaiGoyou not to tell anyone that they were there.

The Goseigers and Shinkengers succeed in stopping the Sanzu River from flowing into the Gosei World, but Buredoran and Madokodama enlarge for another battle. Ground Gosei Great and DaiKai ShinkenOh confront them, with DaiGoyou and Datas Hyper providing support.

Madokodama is destroyed, but Buredoran survives and launches his signature attack against the giant robots. Encouraged by the Shinkengers, the Goseigers form Ground Hyper Gosei Great and finally defeat Buredoran with Modikara Headder Strike.

After the battle, the two teams say their farewells and go their separate ways. As the Goseigers head home, Alata suggests that they try living as samurai, an idea the rest of the team immediately rejects.
