About Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger vs. Gaoranger
Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger Vs. Gaoranger is the team-up movie between Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger and Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 23, 2016.
The three Hurricangers, Yousuke Shiina, Nanami Nono, and Kouta Bitou, are fighting a group of Magerappa when they are suddenly attacked by five strangers who reveal themselves as the Gaorangers. After the opening credits, the Hurricangers continue battling them but are overwhelmed by the Gaorangers’ superior strength. Their mechanical advisor, Oboro Hinata, orders the three to retreat to their base.
Once there, Headmaster Mugensai Hinata explains that the Gaorangers are a heroic team who fought the Orgs one year earlier, while Yousuke, Nanami, and Kouta were still in training. Meanwhile, at the Jakanja base, the villains meet Chubouzu, the younger brother of Chuzubou. Chubouzu makes a proposal directly to Tau Zanto: if he can defeat the Hurricangers, Gouraigers, and Shurikenger, he wants to become the new Second Darkness Spear in honor of his brother’s memory.
The Hurricangers are soon alarmed to discover the Gaorangers attacking the Gouraiger brothers, Ikkou and Isshu Kasumi. As the brothers prepare to use their Double Gadget finisher, the Hurricangers intervene and demand to know why the Gaorangers are attacking their fellow juniors. The five initially claim that they have no memories of their former lives, but this quickly proves to be an act. They declare that the Gaorangers have sold their souls to the devil and become evil.
The apparent Gaorangers summon their respective Gao Jewels and call forth the five main Power Animals, combining them into Gao King. To counter them, the Hurricangers and Gouraigers summon their Shinobi Machines and form Senpuujin and Gouraijin, beginning a giant battle against the seemingly treacherous senior team.
Elsewhere, inside a mysterious cave, the real former Gao Red, Kakeru Shishi, Gao Yellow, Gaku Washio, Gao Blue, Kai Samezu, and Gao Black, Sotarou Ushigome, are imprisoned alongside their mentor Tetomu. They watch in horror as their Power Animal partners are controlled by a group of imposters. Gao King uses Gao Giraffe to form Gao King Spear and successfully defeats Gouraijin. Senpuujin switches into hurrier mode, but it is also quickly overwhelmed.
Just as Gao King prepares to deliver the final blow, the real former Gao White, Sae Taiga, appears and stops the giant beast king. Gao Tiger reacts to her presence and prevents Gao Shark from attacking Senpuujin. Sae calls out to the Power Animals, telling them not to be deceived and insisting that she is the real Sae Taiga. Gao Lion responds with a roar and commands the other four Power Animals to break their combination and eject the fake Gaorangers from the main Soul Bird cockpit.
The imposters escape while the exhausted Sae collapses. The Hurricangers and Gouraigers take her back to their base, where she explains what happened. Sae reveals that she, the other four real Gaorangers, and Tetomu were captured by Chubouzu and the Jakanja. Their G-Phones were then handed over to the imposters.
It is further explained that the Jakanja used a space ninja seal to absorb the Gaorangers’ powers, converting those abilities into data that could be transferred to the fake Gaorangers. The heroes wonder how the Jakanja could have known so much about the Gaorangers in the first place. The answer comes when two shadowy figures appear before the four captive male Gaorangers and Tetomu.
The figures reveal themselves as the surviving Duke Orgs Yabaiba and TsueTsue. Seeking revenge against the Gaorangers for the deaths of their fellow Orgs, the pair told Chubouzu and the Jakanja everything they knew about the team. Their plan is to use the stolen Gaoranger powers against the Hurricangers, Gouraigers, and Shurikenger.
The Hurricangers and Gouraigers join Sae in an attempt to rescue her companions, but the fake Gaorangers intercept them. The imposters reveal their true identities as the five remaining Darkness Spears: Sargain, Wendinu, Manmaruba, Satarakura, and Furabijou. The Gouraigers remain behind to fight the disguised Darkness Spears. Shurikenger then arrives, having already learned about the situation, and joins the conflict.
Meanwhile, the Hurricangers and Sae continue deeper into the cave, where Chubouzu and more Magerappas block their path. Chubouzu explains that he intends to avenge his brother’s death by killing the heroes and claiming his brother’s position as the new Second Darkness Spear. During the fight, the Hurricangers identify the source of the sealing spell and realize that it is connected to Chubouzu’s belt. They attack this weak point and break the seal, freeing the captive Gaorangers and allowing the reunited heroes to escape.
At the same time, far away in a desert, a mysterious cloaked figure is shown holding a silver Gao Jewel. The winds inform him that something is happening in Japan.
The Hurricangers are relieved to finally meet the real Gaorangers, but the reunion is brief when they notice that the Gouraigers and Shurikenger are being overwhelmed by the fake Gaorangers. The real Gaorangers attempt to fight their imposters and recover their stolen powers, but the fake Gao Red, Satarakura, uses the Falcon Summoner in arrow mode to blast the entire group at once, weakening them.
Just as the two teams appear to have lost all hope, the mysterious cloaked figure arrives on his Wolf Roader. He reveals himself as Tsukumaro Oogami, Gao Silver. Tetomu returns his G-Brace Phone, and Gao Silver calls upon the Power Animals to reject the Jakanja’s control and sever their connection to the fake Gaorangers.
As the five Darkness Spears feel their stolen powers and links to the Power Animals weakening, Yousuke, Nanami, and Kouta use shadow dance ninja arts to retrieve the G-Phones from the imposters. They return the devices to their rightful owners. Tetomu also gives all six Gaorangers their respective jackets, allowing the full team to return to battle and repay the villains for their humiliation and for using their righteous powers for evil.
The Hurricangers and Gaorangers transform into their respective Sentai forms and confront the combined forces of the five Darkness Spears, Chubouzu, Yabaiba, and TsueTsue. Using the combined power of the Gaorangers’ Evil-Crushing Hundred Beast Sword and the Hurricangers and Gouraigers’ Victory Gadget, the heroes defeat Yabaiba and TsueTsue once and for all.
Chubouzu survives by using the same giant growth ninja art, allowing him to continue the battle at giant size. He also summons several monsters that the Hurricangers and Gouraigers had defeated in earlier battles. The two teams call forth their respective mecha, turning the confrontation into a massive battle between giant machines and revived monsters.
Chubouzu then uses his energy to summon the spirit of his brother Chuzubou. The Hurricangers and Gouraigers respond by using their Shinobi Medals to summon Furaimaru, combining Senpuujin and Gouraijin into Gorai Senpuujin. The Karakuri Giant destroys Chubouzu’s summoned spirit and sends it back to Hell. Furious over losing his brother for a second time, Chubouzu calls upon the final two revived monsters to combine their strength and cripple the heroes’ giant mecha.
The Gaorangers manage to escape aboard the Soul Bird, but their Power Animals are left badly damaged and weakened by the villains’ assault. Gorai Senpuujin is also left nearly defenseless after losing its right arm. Gao Red suggests summoning Gao Gorilla, Gao Polar, Gao Bear, Gao Rhinos, and Gao Madillo to form Gao Muscle Striker, but Gao Lion tells his partner that they should try another approach.
The Gaorangers enter the individual Hurricanger cockpits, where Gao Red tells Hurricane Red that Gao Shark and Gao Tiger can serve as replacement arms for Gorai Senpuujin. He asks him simply to trust the Power Animals. The two teams successfully attach the two Power Animals as replacement arms for the Karakuri Giant, much to Headmaster Hinata’s surprise.
Oboro then breaks the fourth wall in comedic fashion, telling both her father and the audience that she knew something like this would happen because the movie is a DVD special. The heroes use the new configuration’s sword and shield modes before adding Shurikenger’s Tenkuujin as another replacement right arm, creating Tenkuu Gourai Senpuujin. With the Power Animals providing additional support, the combined teams finally defeat Chubouzu and the remaining two giant monsters.
As everyone celebrates another victory, Shurikenger notices that Gao Silver has already left the cockpit. Gao Silver is later shown returning his jacket and G-Brace Phone to Tetomu. Shurikenger asks his senior why he always leaves without saying goodbye to everyone. Tsukumaro replies that “It would be hard for him to say goodbye to everyone.” He promises that he will return whenever the winds call for him.
The two Sentai teams then say farewell, shaking hands and wishing one another the best of luck as they continue their separate journeys.
