Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger is Toei Company’s 35th installment in its long-running Super Sentai metaseries of Japanese tokusatsu television series, following Tensou Sentai Goseiger. The series has a pirate motif and premiered on TV Asahi on February 13, 2011, alongside Kamen Rider OOO and then Kamen Rider Fourze in the network’s Super Hero Time programming block. It concluded on February 19, 2012. Its catchphrase is “Let’s make it showy!” (派手に行くぜ！, Hade ni ikuze!).

Gokaiger is a special anniversary series. Its heroes can transform into their own distinctive pirate-themed forms, as well as the forms of all 34 previous Super Sentai teams. Each team has its own unique power, which the Gokaigers can use. The series and its related films also feature actors returning to reprise their characters from the earlier series.

On July 30, 2010, Toei applied to trademark the title Kaizoku Sentai Gōkaijā (海賊戦隊ゴーカイジャー) for use on various products. The Japan Patent Office approved the trademarks on August 26, 2010.[1][2] The series was officially announced in a commercial during the Super Sentai VS Theater programming on December 26, 2010. An event at Tokyo Dome City was held on January 29 and 30, 2011, to introduce the cast and theme song singers to the public ahead of the premiere.

A group of young pirates from space travel to Earth to seek the “Greatest Treasure in the Universe” (宇宙最大のお宝, Uchū Saidai no Otakara). To obtain it, they must first acquire the “Greater Powers” of the 34 different Super Sentai teams. They soon find themselves facing the Space Empire Zangyack. Its previous invasion forces were defeated long ago by the 34 Sentai groups, but a new invasion force has since been formed under Commander Warz Gill, the emperor’s son. Because of their history with the empire, the space pirates draw on the earlier teams’ powers and seek to master them as they fight Zangyack as the Gokaigers.
